Text Messaging Program Terms and Conditions

Please read these terms and conditions carefully as they apply to your agreement to participate in a program to communicate with your Ameriprise Financial Services advisor (“Advisor”) using text messaging (the “Text Messaging Program” or the “Program”).  By agreeing to receive text messages from your Advisor, you expressly consent to receive text messages from Ameriprise Financial Services, LLC (“Ameriprise”) through said Advisor, and others on the Advisor’s behalf, at the telephone number from which you received the initial disclosure message.  You may opt out of the Text Messaging Program at any time. Participation in the Program is not required to purchase or receive any product or service from Ameriprise. 

Program Description

The Text Messaging Program is intended to enable you and your Advisor to communicate with each other by sending and receiving text messages. The information received from the text messages you send will be used by your advisor to service your account and will be stored within Ameriprise’s systems with your account details. By participating in the Program, you agree to receive text messages from your Advisor, members of your advisors practices, and those at Ameriprise who assist your advisor with the servicing of your account   Your consent to receive text messages will not be shared nor sold, so you will not get texts from Ameriprise affiliates or third parties on behalf of your Advisor. The Program is intended for general communication between you and the Advisor. Neither the Advisor nor you may use text messages to initiate or request orders or transactions as these must be verbally accepted and confirmed.

Limitations

Please do not transmit orders or regarding an Ameriprise account via text. For your protection, Ameriprise does not accept and act on such instructions. Similarly, Ameriprise does not accept trading instructions via voicemail, instant messages or facsimile. Do not include information containing account numbers, credit card numbers, passwords, or other personal information. Please speak directly with your financial advisor if you need to give instructions related to your account.

Message Frequency

The number and frequency of text messages that you receive will vary depending on your and your Advisor’s use of the Program.

Cost

Neither Ameriprise nor your Advisor will charge you for participating in the Program. However, message and data rates may apply to each text message sent or received in connection with the Program, as defined by your mobile telephone service rate plan. Under certain circumstances, your mobile telephone service provider may also apply roaming charges.  Contact your mobile telephone service provider for details about pricing.

Opting Out of the Program

To exit the Program and stop receiving text messages from your Advisor, text STOP to your Advisor at the same telephone number used for exchanging text messages with your Advisor. After you opt out, you will no longer be able to send text messages to or receive text messages from your Advisor. If you wish to re-enter the Program, you must request that your advisor send a text message to you that will contain an invitation and required disclosures.

Your Mobile Telephone Number

You represent that you are the account holder for the mobile telephone number that you provide to Ameriprise or your Advisor.  You are responsible for notifying your Advisor immediately if you change your mobile telephone number.

You agree to indemnify Company in full for all claims, expenses, and damages related in any way to your failure to notify your Advisor of a change to your mobile telephone number, including, but not limited to, all claims, expenses, and damages related to or arising under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

Access or Delivery to Mobile Network is Not Guaranteed

Delivery of information and content to a mobile device may fail for a variety of reasons. You understand and acknowledge that network services, including but not limited to mobile network services, are outside the control of Ameriprise and your Advisor, and that neither Ameriprise nor your Advisor is responsible or liable for issues arising from any such failure.

Eligibility

To participate in the Program, you must be a resident of the United States and 18 years of age or older.

Changes to Terms and Conditions

Ameriprise may revise, modify, or amend these Text Messaging Program Terms and Conditions at any time.  Any such revision, modification, or amendment shall take effect when it is posted to Ameriprise’s website.  You agree to review these Terms and Conditions periodically to ensure that you are aware of any changes.  Your continued participation in the Program will indicate your acceptance of those changes.

Termination of Text Messaging Program

Ameriprise may suspend or terminate your participation in the Program if Ameriprise believes you are in breach of these Terms and Conditions.  Your participation in the Program is also subject to termination if your mobile telephone service terminates or lapses.  Ameriprise reserves the right to change or discontinue the Program without notice.
